The WAS IST WAS story began in 1961 - with four initial titles in magazine format. That makes 50 years of exploring, discovering, experiencing!

Perfectly timed for the anniversary year 2011:

"The Big Book of Answers" by The WAS IST WAS - a collection of the most exciting questions from WIW books for children age 8 and older.

For explorers 5 years or older, there is the anniversary edition "WAS IST WAS Junior My First Knowledge" - 17 theme pages from the Junior series. Both anniversary editions come with an audio play extra.

WAS IST WAS As A Magazine

WAS IST WAS continues to grow!

Since January, the Egmont Ehapa Verlag has been publishing the new children's knowledge magazine WAS IST WAS. The WAS IST WAS Magazine appears every two months and is aimed at boys and girls age 6-11. Besides current information and fascinating topics, there are also witty tests and experiments.

WAS IST WAS now in Chinese Language

At a large-scale press conference in Jinan, China, managing director Dr. Thomas Seng held 10 Chinese WAS IST WAS volumes in his hands for the very first time.

The largest Chinese publisher of children’s and young people’s books Dolphin Media with its publishing director Dr. Xia is to publish over 1.5 million copies of a total of 120 titles of the well-known WAS IST WAS series.

As part of this first publication Dolphin organised a PR tour to Jinan and Beijing during which the TESSLOFF director together with WAS IST WAS author Dr. Rainer Köthe and TESSLOFF spokeswoman Jelena Stader presented the concept and the success story of the series and brand WAS IST WAS.
